Scandinavia 101

Scandinavia. The northern countries of Norway, Sweden, Finland and Denmark are known for their stunning natural landscapes and fine design. For me, the granddaughter of four Swedish immigrants, it brings to mind a sense of home. During a recent trip back to the 'Old Country', I was able to visit some of the historic places that reminded me of the area's unique quality of light and color and turn that inspiration into a collection of four fabric patterns.

We visited outdoor museums that featured traditional homes my ancestors could have lived in. We came across scenes of textile handwork in many of the exhibits. I loved the handspun yarns in vegetable dyed colors, which led to the collection's color palette.
