Hable Construction
  • Port & Cape Collection
  • 14 patterns, 82 colors
  • High performance
  • For indoor and outdoor use

For over a decade, Hable Construction textiles have enlivened homes with their happy, welcoming colors and contemporary yet timeless patterns. The Port & Cape Collection is a selection of Hable’s bestsellers as well as new patterns designed exclusively for LoomSource; it marries the artistic quality Hable is known for with the performance required for highly trafficked indoor/outdoor environments.

“With LoomSource, we strive to bring together the best of design and function for the hospitality environment. We are thrilled to partner with Hable Construction and make their beautiful designs available for use in commercial hospitality environments,” says Eddie Elizondo, Director of Marketing.

“We are so excited about this; we have customers that have wanted this from us, and it’s so nice to have it come to life through LoomSource. We knew they would do our work justice because they’re the best at what they do. We put our heart and soul into this and want the same of someone else,” says Katharine Hable, Hable Construction.

The Port & Cape Collection comprises 14 patterns in a total of 82 colors. Bestselling designs from Hable’s existing collection include Palm, with its botanical lines of willowy boughs; Ropes, a free-spirited and whimsical pattern inspired by an antique rope; random and rambling Tumbleweed; structured-yet-organic Fig; and Big Beads, Hable’s most iconic pattern, inspired by a pearl necklace. New patterns exclusively for LoomSource include Islet, Suzani, Murano, and Batik, all of which are inspired by vintage textiles; Malta, with its Moroccan tile design; nautical Tides and geometric Bali Block; and Dhurrie, a classic chevron pattern re-imagined with a lighter hand and scale. Bimini, a striae plain, acts as the solid and coordinates with all of the patterns.

In keeping with the essence of the Hables’ products, the weave structure is simple and reminiscent of canvas. Made with 100% Bella-Dura, this indoor/outdoor fabric is extremely colorfast, as well as bleach-cleanable, anti-bacterial, and anti-fungal. It is extremely lightfast. Patterns in the collection reach as high as 200,000 double rubs. Made with recycled fibers and recyclable at the end of its life, the Port & Cape Collection is MBDC Cradle to Cradle Silver certified.

Susan and Katharine Hable, Texan sisters and design experts, founded Hable Construction – a NYC-based textile company named after their great grandfather’s twentieth century road construction business – in 1999. Paving roads of a different sort, the new generation of the family business merged their skills and talents with an updated sensibility, aiming to create artfully distinctive and utilitarian products for everyday living.

Katharine, a born saleswoman, with professional experience working at Kate Spade and Polo Ralph Lauren and Susan, an artist inspired by nature and the handmade aesthetic, decided a business partnership would be a harmonious marriage of the siblings' talents.

The Hable sisters apply practicality, sophistication, and timelessness into their line of home and personal accessories. Bold, graphic patterns comprised of abstracted motifs dubbed with colorful, hand-drawn patterns are the hallmarks of the Hable aesthetic.

Their success and recognition have also made possible recent licensing opportunities with industry notables: Garnet Hill, Barney's, Proctor & Gamble, and Neiman Marcus.
