The Coastal Collection 1998 IIDA ACCLAIM Award: Winner The Coastal Collection includes five fabrics whose moody, neutral colors were inspired by the quiet colors found in the temperate Northwest landscapes, while the finely detailed patterns remind one of the seaweed and tiny fish that one would find at the seashore. "I look at this collection as a walk on a beach", says Sina Pearson, the designer of the collection. "In fact, it is directly inspired by childhood memories of summers I spent on the beach north of Seattle. We practically lived in the grey-green cold waters of Puget Sound." Minnow, Beachcomber and Trout are woven of mercerized cotton and polyester. Both Dunes, a directional 100% mohair face fabric, and Marsh, a matching grospoint, have slub yarns woven into their backing to create a natural windswept look.
A portion of the proceeds of the Coastal Collection will be donated to non-profit organizations protecting the wildlands of Washington State. |
