The Obi Collection

Obi. The name conjures up Japanese sashes made in rich colors and brilliant gold threads. But there are other obis that can be just as beautiful. 'Everyday' obis, traditionally worn by people in Japan's rural countryside, are woven with handspun yarns dyed in natural vegetable dyed colors. Their random stripes in subtle tones create sophisticated patterns that seem almost modern in their appeal. Obi Stripe is inspired by those treasured textiles. Its stripes seem to come and go in no apparent repeat, as if the weaver randomly picked up one color yarn after another. This creates a soothing range of tones that add interest to all kinds of upholstery, from side chairs larger seating units. The wool blend fabric is inherently flame retardant, meeting the strict FAA Far 25.853 12 second vertical burn test.
