The Textiles of Africa Collection
|
1996 IIDA Product Design Award: Honorable Mention Textiles of Africa conjures the timeless beauty of primitive African fabrics, with their rich vegetable-dyed colors and textural handspun yarns. African Stripe is a horizontal striped frisé with a strié background, in a refined scale suitable for any kind of seating, or adaptable as a dimensional wallcovering fabric. The polyester/cotton content creates a soft yet heavily textured hand. Kente Cloth is a vertical stripe woven of thick and thin linen yarns parallel to the selvage; a sophisticated, modern version of its familiar namesake. Traditional African Kuba cloths feature rigorous geometric motifs woven from raffia fiber; our Kuba Cloth is a subtle version of the classic: a dimensional weave with an all over half-dropped rectangular pattern. The lustrous softness from its polyester chenille yarns makes it especially suitable for lounge seating. |
